Struvite is one of the most common types of bladder stones. Bladder stones in your cat can result in painful urination, frequent small amounts of urination, straining when urinating, urinating in the house, bloody urine or even being unable to urinate. Due to an increased concentration of waste products in the blood, the cat can feel sick, which can change the behavior of the cat. With decreasing urine acidity (higher pH), the risk of struvite stone formation increases. A low acidity (high pH) of the urine can be caused by diet or by a urinary tract infection.
